Iona To Face Manhattan On Sunday For MAAC Softball Championship

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Softball Championship will be decided on Sunday, May 11, when No. 3 seed Iona College faces No. 6 seed Manhattan College at 11:00 a.m. at Fairfield University’s Alumni Softball Stadium.
The Jaspers won three consecutive games, all by one-run margins, to advance to the final contest. Manhattan defeated No. 4 seed Siena, 5-4, in the day’s first game, and then knocked off top-seeded Marist 1-0 to climb out of the elimination bracket.
The Jaspers then defeated Iona, 1-0, in the first game of the championship round on Saturday, forcing the rematch on Sunday, May 11.
The Gaels advanced to the championship round with wins over Manhattan, No. 2 seed Fairfield and top-seeded Marist.
