Edison, N.J. – Wagner College currently ranks #21 overall in the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s final 2014 poll results, narrowly missing out on a spot in the top 20 after receiving 3 votes.  Teetering on the edge of a top 20 selection all season long, Wagner first appeared in the top 20 poll results in February when they shared the #20 spot with the University of Michigan and Hartwick College. The Seahawks climbed up to the #19 spot in mid March, the highest ranking they received throughout the year. Wagner, the 2014 MAAC water polo champions, finished the season with a record of 25-12.

After defeating Marist College 9-7 in the 2014 MAAC water polo championship final, Wagner entered the NCAA tournament against #8 Indiana University, falling 11-6. The Seahawks finished with a 13-1 mark in the MAAC, and were led by 2014 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and 2014 MAAC Water Polo Championship Most Outstanding Performer Jessica Lundgren, who re-broke her own school record in steals this season with 155. Lundgren ranked second in the MAAC in goals scored with 104 followed by teammate Jessica Burdge who netted 103 goals on the season. A native of Stockton, California, Burdge averaged 2.78 goals per game in 2014.

Wagner scored the most goals in the MAAC this season with 446, which ranks second most all-time in conference history, and has let up a total of 317 goals, which was good for 3rd best in the conference. The Seahawks goalkeeper, freshman Emily Riddle, made 289 saves this season ranking her 2nd in the MAAC in 2014. Head Coach Chris Radmonovich and the Wagner Seahawks will return to the pool next season looking for a second consecutive MAAC championship.
