Siena & Marist to Meet in MAAC Men's Lacrosse Title Game

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – The top seeded Siena College Saints will face the second seeded Marist College Red Foxes in the 2014 Men's Lacrosse Championship game on the campus of Marist College.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools in the title game. Siena heads into their sixth consecutive championship game, winning two titles in 2009 and 2011.  Marist’s last trip to the championship final was in 2005.

Siena finished the regular season with a perfect conference record of 6-0 and 9-5 overall. The Saints defeated the fourth seeded Canisius College Golden Griffins 14-11 in the semifinal game. This marks John Svec’s third consecutive trip to the championship game in his three years as Head Coach of the Saints. The Saints will be led by 2014 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year Richie Hurley, 2014 MAAC Face-Off Specialist of the Year, All-MAAC First Team members Conor Prunty and Brendan Meehan.

Marist earned their spot in the championship final when they defeated the University of Detroit Titans, 11-9 in their semifinal match-up. The Red Foxes hold a record of 3-3 in the MAAC and 5-8 overall. Marist is seeking their first MAAC title since 2005 and will be led by 2014 MAAC Co-Long Stick Midfielder of the Year Pat Eaker and All-MAAC First Team members Joe Radin, Mike Begley and Drew Nesmith.

The winner of the championship will receive the MAAC's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship.

The Championship Final will be played at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3 at Marist College’s Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field and can be seen live on ESPN3 and Time Warner Cable.
