Dan Petrino Named Director of Championships at MAAC

EDISON, N.J. – Dan Petrino has been named Director of Championships at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), it was announced today by Commissioner Richard J. Ensor, Esq.

“Dan was an exemplary MAAC Fellow who through a dedicated work ethic and a service personality worked his way up to this promotion,” notes Ensor. “The MAAC enjoys hiring employees like Dan, who come through our membership and gain the recognition and work experience to become a championships administrator.”

In his new position, Petrino will plan and conduct conference sports, championships, and special events. He will serve as the primary liaison and oversee MAAC Championships for cross country, indoor track & field, men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s lacrosse. Petrino will also oversee the MAAC SAAC program and assist with the “MAAC Gives Back” community relations program.  

Petrino served as an Administrative Fellow at the MAAC during the 2013-14 academic year, assisting in multiple facets for MAAC championships. In his role he assisted with the planning and operations of MAAC championships and oversaw the development of MAAC championship programs, awards certificates, and posts season awards Prezi presentation.   

Petrino joined the MAAC in August 2013 as a recent graduate of Rider University. While attending Rider, he worked in event and facility operations as an event staff member for the athletic department, before being promoted to Student Event Manager. Petrino served as a point of contact for visiting teams and officials, helped manage the event staff members, and assisted with setup and breakdown for all home athletic events throughout the year.

Outside of working in the Division I athletic department, Petrino was also a vital part in the rise of the club baseball program at Rider; serving as Vice-President and President of the program.

Petrino graduated in December 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and minors in the business of sports and communications. He resides in Lawrenceville, NJ.
