NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College women's water polo graduate Amy Olsen was named a 2014 ACWPC Women's Water Polo All-American Honorable Mention selection for their performance this past spring for the Maroon & Gold. Olsen was recognized with the same honor a season ago and joins former standout Cecilia Leonard as the only two-time All-American honorees in program history.
Olsen earned her second straight MAAC Offensive Player of the Year recognition in 2014 after tallying a league high 107 goals during the season; her second straight campaign notching triple digits in the category. Olsen was also credited with 27 assists, a team best 51 steals and 70 kickouts drawn for Iona.
Olsen averaged a MAAC single-season record 3.45 goals per game for the Gaels in 2014 and is the first player in program and MAAC history to eclipse 100 goals in a season twice in her career. A season ago, Olsen scored 102 goals and finished with a team-high 128 points. In the Gaels' Mar. 30 win over VMI, Olsen became Iona's all-time leading goal scorer when her 331th career tally pushed her into first place on the ledger. She ended her career with 368 tallies.
