EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has named Lily Rodriguez its Director of Championships and Special Events, as announced by Commissioner Richard J. Ensor, Esq.

“I look forward to Lily Rodriguez joining the MAAC staff as the Director of Championships and Special Events,” notes Ensor. “Her familiarity with the MAAC and experience in hosting league championships will be important as she begins managing events such as the 2014 MAAC Volleyball Championship at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.”

In her new position, Rodriguez will plan and conduct conference championships hosted at Disney Sports Attractions including the 2014 Volleyball Championship and the 2015 Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships. She will also handle the development of schedules for assigned sports, coordinate league and coaches meetings and oversee the MAAC awards program.

Rodriguez has most recently been working in the Rutgers University Athletic Department as the Athletic Communications Assistant. In her role, she served as the primary media contact for women’s volleyball, women’s swimming and diving, women’s lacrosse and women’s tennis. She also facilitated game day coverage for her assigned sports, managed the social media platforms for each team including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, and created graphics to promote teams and student-athlete achievements.

No stranger to the MAAC, Rodriguez served as the Athletic Communications Assistant at Saint Peter’s University from 2011-2013. During her time at Saint Peter’s, Rodriguez handled the media relations for the 2011 MAAC Volleyball Championship and aided in the redesign and transition to the new athletic website, all while serving as the primary media contact for various sports.

"I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve as Director of Championships and Special Events,” notes Rodriguez. “I have always admired the mission and values of the MAAC dating back to my time at Saint Peter's and I look forward to servicing its institutions and student-athletes."

Outside of her work in Division I athletics, Rodriguez is currently the head coach of Impact Volleyball Club’s 16 and under volleyball team. She has previous coaching experience at Saint Peter’s University as its Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach and at Brooklyn Friends School, serving as Assistant Coach for its Girls’ Volleyball, Girls’ Varsity Basketball and Boys’ Volleyball teams.

A native of Linden, N.J., Rodriguez is a graduate of St. Francis College with a B.S. in Management concentrating in Marketing and was a member of the volleyball team. She earned a Masters of Business Administration from Saint Peter’s University in 2011.
