Siena's Swain Named to Freshmen All-American Team
MAAC Sports
Dan Swain of Siena College was named to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team. Swain, one of 26 Division I outfielders selected to the team, was an All-MAAC Second Team selection and was also named the 2014 MAAC Rookie of the Year. Earning a starting position in the outfield for Siena, Swain was able to help the Saints win their first MAAC Baseball Championship in over a decade and secure an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship.
Swain's career started off strong with a home run in his first at bat of his collegiate career. Starting all but one game for the Saints in 2014, Swain hit .293 with 61 hits, 21 runs scored and 27 runs batted in. He was also named MAAC Rookie of the Week twice this season.
Swain follows Canisius' Alex Godzak (2013) as a MAAC student-athlete to have been selected for this honor. Swain is also just the third Siena player named to the Louisville Slugger team, joining Dave Pahucki (1999) and Dan Paolini (2009).
