Field Hockey Season Set to Begin this Week

EDISON, N.J. –The first weekend of the field hockey season begins on Friday, August 29, with a full schedule of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference teams in action. Four of the leagues six teams open up the season on Friday.
Monmouth begins the 2014 season with a home matchup against Missouri State at noon. Preseason favorite Quinnipiac will start off with a home match versus Boston College at 3 p.m. Bryant will travel to Colgate for a 6 p.m. start time while Sacred Heart takes on Villanova at home at 7 p.m. to conclude opening day.
On Saturday August 30, Rider will take on Missouri State at home for their first match of the season at 12 p.m. Bryant will take on Albany, Monmouth will face Bucknell, Siena will begin their season on the road at Drexel, Quinnipiac will oppose Lafayette and Sacred Heart will travel to Rutgers all at 1 p.m. on Sunday August 31.
The 2014-15 academic year’s first installment of weekly awards will be announced on Monday, September 1. The league will select an offensive player, defensive player, and rookie of the week each week until the MAAC Championship.
The 2014 Field Hockey Championship finals will be held on November 7 and 9.
