EDISON, N.J. – Siena College freshman goalkeeper Josh Weiss was one of two student-athletes named Division I men’s soccer “Co-Defensive Player of the Week” by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Weiss, who was selected by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as its Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, posted his second consecutive shutout to begin his career this week in route to the Saints defeating No.23 Boston University 1-0. The freshman made ten saves during the week and added two wins to help Siena improve to 3-0 for the first time in program history.

Weiss shares the ECAC honor with Jake Weinreb of American University.

Siena College freshman forward Alexander Tejera was also one of two student-athletes named Division I men’s soccer “Co-Rookies of the Week” by the ECAC.

Tejera, who was selected by the MAAC as its Rookie of the Week on Monday, scored a goal in each of the Saints’ two matches last week, totaling four points. The freshman scored his first collegiate goal, which proved to be the only goal of the contest in the Saints’ upset of No. 23 Boston University.

Tejera shares the ECAC honor with Fredrik Borenstein of Duquesne University.
