EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the launch of the ESPN3 player on MAACSports.com with Monmouth University also announcing its plans to produce Monmouth Hawks athletics contests on the ESPN3 site beginning later this year.

The ESPN3 player will include the MAAC’s branded channel consisting of live and archived sporting contests from MAAC schools, MAAC features such as the Preseason Coaches Forums, and championship award ceremonies. Fans can also access the MAAC channel on ESPN3 through certain versions of the WatchESPN app and through AppleTV and Roku devices. ESPN3 currently reaches 95 million households and an additional 21 million U.S.-based college students and military personnel.

“The MAAC Council of Presidents approved a contract addendum in May for the MAAC ESPN3 Channel,” notes Richard J. Ensor, MAAC Commissioner. “It is anticipated that in time all MAAC member schools will take advantage of this broadcast platform as institutions develop campus based production programs. Kudos to the Monmouth staff on being the first school to launch.”

Monmouth University’s programming will be produced by members of the Monmouth University community, including athletics department staff, students, alumni, and staff from the Department of Communication. The four, five and six camera HD productions will feature full ESPN graphics integration, replay and two or three-person announcing teams.

“The department of athletics is thrilled to announce this agreement with ESPN3,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil. “Monmouth considers this the ultimate collaboration with a first class media entity that will allow us to showcase our student-athletes on their field of play and our students behind cameras and in TV-style production. Our facilities, dedication by the University’s administration and staff and the MAAC’s relationship with the World Wide Leader in Sports have presented us with this tremendous opportunity that will give the University and athletics department an unparalleled amount of exposure.”

Monmouth is the first member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to offer a full slate of games and sports with complete ESPN3 production requirements on the platform. A number of MAAC schools have expressed interest in following Monmouth’s lead and may add productions to the schedule in the upcoming year. A full production schedule will be released by Monmouth later this month as equipment is finalized and delivered.
