EDISON, N.J. – The Iona Gaels Men’s Cross Country program starts the year with its first accolade, earning a No.12 rank in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) National Coaches’ Poll. Iona has a long-standing record of success in the conference after earning MAAC Champion titles for the last twenty-three years. The Gaels’ winning tradition has made them a championship contender every season.
The Men’s Cross Country team has been ranked among the top teams in the region and earned a No. 2 ranking among teams in the northeast region right behind Syracuse University as the Gaels work toward its 24th straight conference title. The Gaels will be led by Kieran Clements, who won the MAAC Championships with a time of 25:27.94 and also came in 20th at NCAA Northeast Regionals. Other returners include senior Jake Byrne, Senior Michael O’Dowd and Graduate Student Quinn Raseman. The Gaels are returning 23 runners from last year’s team that won the MAAC Championships.
