Saint's Freshman Takes Second Straight ECAC Men's Soccer Award

EDISON, N.J. – Siena College freshman goalkeeper Josh Weiss was one of two student-athletes named Division I men’s soccer “Co-Defensive Player of the Week” by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC). This is the second consecutive week the ECAC has named the Saint’s goalkeeper as the “Co-Defensive Player of the Week”.
Weiss, who was selected by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as its Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, posted a 2-1 record with a 0.94 goals against average, .850 save percentage and 17 saves last week for the Saints. He made three saves in Tuesday’s 5-1 win over Sacred Heart and added a pair of saves in Friday’s narrow 1-0 loss to an Oregon State squad which was receiving Top-25 votes. Sunday, Weiss made a season-high 12 saves including three in overtime in a 2-1 double overtime win over a Portland team that was also receiving Top-25 votes. For his efforts over the weekend, Weiss was named to the Henson/Zaher Nike Classic All-Tournament Team.
Weiss shares the ECAC honor with Jordan Stagmiller of St. John’s University.
