Brian Grubbs, Saint Peter’s, Men's Golf, Sr., Cotez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez

Grubbs helped the Peacocks to its first MAAC Men's Golf Championship in the spring after finishing the MAAC Men's Golf Championships in fifth place. The senior co-captain shot an 81 in the first round and then shot an even-par round of 72 in the second round and a 77 in the final round to card a 230 in the championships to lead the team to its first NCAA Championships appearance in the Sugar Grove Regional. Grubbs also won the Monmouth Invitational in the spring.

Nicolette Mateescu, Rider, Cross Country, Jr., 5-3 Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick

Niky was an All-MAAC cross country runner last year, finishing ninth overall at the conference championships. This year she was the second collegiate runner to finish the TCNJ Invitational, finishing third overall in a race that included cross country alumni. At the Monmouth Invitational September 20 she finished second among Broncs, 10th overall. A psychology major, Niky was recently awarded a $5,000 scholarship to pursue research on how well individuals with intellectual disabilities perform, to determine the effects of familiarity and valence on sorting in children. Last spring Niky placed second in the 10,000m run at the MAAC Track Championships with an ECAC qualifying time. Niky was a member of the MAAC All-Academic team last year in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field. Niky has run the 1500m outdoor in 4:59.82, the 3,000m outdoor in 10:48.82, the 5,000m outdoor in 17:50.71 and the 10,000m outdoor in 36:41.36.
