EDISON, N.J. – Manhattan College’s Aislinn McIlvenny and Siena College’s Anna Grant have been named as candidates for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award in Division I women's soccer.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Manhattan’s McIlvenny has earned second team All-MAAC honors in each of her last two seasons and is well on her way to another terrific season in 2014. McIlvenny has scored three goals in four matches this season for Manhattan, helping the Jaspers to wins over Wagner and Binghamton. An exercise science major, McIlvenny owns a 3.75 grade point average and is on target to graduate in December. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team in 2013 and is a two-time MAAC All-Academic team member. In the spring 2014 semester, McIlvenny earned a 3.94 grade point average.

Siena’s Grant, double major in mathematics and computer science, possesses a 3.85 and 3.92 GPA within each program respectively and three times has been a member of Siena Athletics' 4.0 Club. On the field, she has quarterbacked the Saints' backfield as a full-time center back the past two and a half seasons. She was both a Preseason All-MAAC and postseason Second Team All-MAAC selection last fall.

The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Women’s College Cup® championship in December.
