EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule continues into the middle of October with MAAC Championships a few short weeks away. Teams look to finish strong with the goal of winning it all in their respective sport.

Preseason favorite Monmouth University and Marist College are currently tied in the MAAC men’s soccer standings with 13 points. The Hawks and Red Foxes are both 4-0-1 in MAAC play. There are ten MAAC men’s soccer matchups this week, five on Wednesday, October 14 and five on Saturday, October 17. On Wednesday, October 14 the matchups are:

·         Iona versus Marist at 2:00 p.m.

·         Niagara versus Rider at 3:30 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m.

·         Fairfield versus Siena at 7:00 p.m.

·         Monmouth versus Saint Peter’s at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3

The matchups on Saturday, October 17 are:

·         Niagara versus Saint Peter’s at 1:00 p.m.

·         Siena versus Iona at 1:00 p.m.

·         Rider versus Manhattan at 1:00 p.m.

·         Quinnipiac versus Canisius at 2:00 p.m.

·         Fairfield versus Monmouth at 7:00 p.m.

On the volleyball court, Rider University had its six game winning streak snapped by Iona College. The Broncs are now 7-1 in MAAC volleyball play and stand at 12-10 overall. Siena College and Manhattan College round out the top three in the standings with the Saints holding a 6-2 record in MAAC play and the Jaspers are in third with a 5-2 record in MAAC play. There are two non-conference matchups this week. On Monday, October 12, Iona is at Hartford for a 7:00 p.m. start. On Wednesday, October 14, Saint Peter’s battles in-state rival, the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) at 7:00 p.m. The first conference game of the week takes place on Wednesday, October 14 when Quinnipiac versus Marist at 7:00 p.m. There are nine conference games over the weekend beginning on Saturday, October 17 with the following contests:

·         Iona versus Quinnipiac at noon

·         Manhattan versus Fairfield at 1:00 p.m.

·         Siena versus Marist at 1:00 p.m.

·         Rider versus Niagara at 1:00 p.m.

·         Saint Peter’s versus Canisius at 1:00 p.m.

On Sunday, October 18 there are four MAAC volleyball games:

·         Rider versus Canisius at 1:00 p.m.

·         Saint Peter’s versus Niagara at 1:00 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Quinnipiac at 1:00 p.m.

·         Iona versus Fairfield at 1:00 p.m.

Monmouth University is currently first in the MAAC women’s soccer standings with 15 points. Manhattan is in second place with 13 points and a 4-0-1 record in MAAC play. The Jaspers are the lone undefeated team in conference play. The first of two non-conference women’s soccer contests is on Monday, October 12 when Marist is at Brown for a 2:00 p.m. start. On Friday, October 16, Marist versus Delaware State at 7:00 p.m. There are ten MAAC games on the women’s soccer schedule this week with five games on Wednesday, October 14 and five games on Saturday, October 17. The schedule for Wednesday, October 14 includes:

·         Rider versus Niagara at 1:30 p.m.

·         Saint Peter’s versus Monmouth at 3:00 p.m.

·         Siena versus Fairfield at 3:00 p.m.

·         Quinnipiac versus Manhattan at 3:00 p.m.

·         Marist versus Iona at 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday, October 17 the matchups are:

·         Iona versus Siena at noon.

·         Saint Peter’s versus Niagara at noon

·         Manhattan versus Rider at 1:00 p.m.

·         Canisius versus Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m.

·         Monmouth versus Fairfield at 7:00 p.m.

Conference play for MAAC field hockey began on Friday, October 9. Monmouth University, Quinnipiac University, and Siena College all earned their first MAAC win of the 2015 campaign. There is one non-conference game scheduled for Sunday, October 18. Fairfield versus Columbia at 1:00 p.m. There are six MAAC matchups this week with three on Friday, October 16 and three on Sunday, October 18. The schedule for Friday, October 16 is:

·         Siena versus Bryant at 3:00 p.m.

·         Sacred Heart versus Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m.

·         Fairfield versus Rider at 7:00 p.m.

On Sunday, October 18 the matchups are:

·         Quinnipiac versus Siena at noon

·         Monmouth versus Rider at noon

·         Bryant versus Sacred Heart at 1:00 p.m.

On the track this week, Canisius College and Niagara University are competing in the Canisius Invitational on Saturday, October 17.  Iona College is competing in two events; on Friday, October 16 the Gaels are running in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational and on Saturday, October 17 they compete in the Leopard Invitational along with Rider University. The Broncs are also competing in the Princeton Invitational on the 17th. Manhattan College, Marist College and Siena College are all running in the UAlbany Invitational on Saturday, October 17 at 11 a.m.

Swimming and diving conference matchups begin this week. On Friday, October 16, Fairfield University faces Rider University, and Canisius College takes on Marist College. Siena College is competing in the Catholic Invite for a two-day meet starting on Friday, October 16. 

On Saturday, October 17, Manhattan College takes on Fairfield University and Saint Peter’s University. Saint Peter’s University will also compete against Fairfield University. Iona is hosting a homecoming meet on Saturday, October 17. Niagara University will take on Fredonia State on Saturday, October 17.
