Field Set for 2015 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship

EDISON, NJ – With the regular season concluding on Wednesday, the seeds have now been determined for the 2015 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship.
Monmouth University (9-1, 27 points) claimed its third consecutive MAAC regular season crown and earned the number one overall seed. The Hawks will receive a bye in the first round of the championship and will host the championship semifinal and final rounds on Friday, November 6 and Sunday, November 8. Manhattan College (6-1-3, 21 points) clinched the second seed in the championship and also earned a first round bye.
Marist College (6-3-1, 19 points) and Rider University (6-3-1, 19 points) both tied for third place, and will host the first round matches as the number three and four seeds.
Fourth seeded Rider will play host to fifth seeded Niagara University (6-4, 18 points) in the first round on Saturday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. In their regular season meeting which also took place at Rider on October 14, the Broncs defeated the Purple Eagles 1-0. Rider scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute of play when freshman Meghan McCabe scored on a header on a corner kick from junior Hollie Kelsh.
Number three seed Marist, will take on number six seed and rival Siena College (5-4-1, 16 points) in the other first round contest at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1. When the two teams met this season on October 21, the Saints picked up a 1-0 shutout over the Red Foxes. Siena junior back Tara Sobierajski scored the lone goal and senior goalkeeper Liz Rogan recorded her sixth shutout of the season in the Saints regular season home finale.
Second seeded Manhattan will face the highest advancing seed from the opening round and championship host Monmouth, will face the lowest advancing seed from the first round. The start times for the semifinals and final of the championship will be determined at a later date.
The winner of the 2015 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship will receive the leagues automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship. The NCAA Selection Show for DI Women’s Soccer will air on NCAA.com on Monday, November 9 at 4:30 p.m.
