Iona College Takes Home the 2015 MAAC Men's Cross Country Championship

PENNINGTON, NJ –The Iona College men’s cross country team claimed the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Cross Country Championship at Rosedale Park in Pennington, New Jersey. Iona College senior, Mike O’Dowd was the men’s individual champion.
The Iona Gaels, which rank ninth nationally and second in the region claimed its 25th consecutive MAAC men’s crown with a team score of 15 points. Iona's margin of victory was the second largest in MAAC history with 78 points behind the 1994 MAAC Championship where Iona won by 80 points.The Gaels took the first seven spots of the race. O’Dowd led the way for Iona with a time of 23:44.30, followed in second and third by sophomore classmates of Brandon Allen who finished with a time of 23.44.40 and Chartt Miller who ran a 23.44.48.
Marist came in second with 93 points, while Canisius came in third with 112 points. Fourth place went to Monmouth with a total of 115 points, fifth was Siena with 140 points, sixth was Manhattan with 157 points and seventh was Quinnipiac with 173 points. Fairfield came in eighth place with 195 points, ninth place went to Rider with 208 points, tenth place was Niagara with 278 points and Saint Peter’s rounded out the meet with 362 points.
The 2015 men’s cross country coach of the year is Pete Colaizzo from Marist College.
