EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule rolls into the first week of October as teams look to finish the final month of the season on a high note with hopes of competing for the MAAC Championship at the end of the month and the first weekend of November.

Preseason favorite Monmouth University and Marist College are currently tied in the MAAC men’s soccer standings with nine points. The Hawks and Red Foxes are both on three game winning streaks. The first game on the slate for men’s soccer this week takes place on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. with Niagara University at Pittsburgh. That will be the final non-conference game on the schedule for any MAAC school. There are ten MAAC men’s soccer matchups this week, five on Wednesday, October 7 and five on Saturday, October 10. On Wednesday, October 7 the matchups are:

·         Iona versus Fairfield at 1:00 p.m.

·         Quinnipiac versus Marist at 3:00 p.m.

·         Saint Peter’s versus Manhattan at 3:00 p.m.

·         Canisius versus Siena at 4:00 p.m.

·         Rider versus Monmouth at 7:00 p.m.

The matchups on Saturday, October 10 are:

·         Siena versus Rider at 1:00 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Niagara at 2:00 p.m.

·         Marist versus Fairfield at 7:00 p.m.

·         Canisius versus Iona at 7:00 p.m.

·         Monmouth versus Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m.

On the volleyball court, Rider University is currently on a six game winning streak and is in first place in the standings. The Broncs have a perfect 6-0 record in MAAC volleyball play and stand at 11-9 overall. Siena College and Manhattan College round out the top three in the standings with the Saints holding a 5-1 record in MAAC play and the Jaspers are in third with a 4-1 record in MAAC play. There are two non-conference matchups this week, both on Wednesday October 7 at 7:00 p.m. Manhattan College is at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Iona College is at St. Francis Brooklyn.  There are nine conference games over the weekend beginning on Saturday, October 10 with the following contests:

·         Niagara versus Canisius at 1:00 p.m.

·         Siena versus Fairfield at 1:00 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Rider at 1:00 p.m.

·         Marist versus Quinnipiac at 1:00 p.m.

·         Iona versus Saint Peter’s at 3:00 p.m.

On Sunday, October 11 there are four MAAC volleyball games:

·         Marist versus Fairfield at 1:00 p.m.

·         Siena versus Quinnipiac at 1:00 p.m.

·         Iona versus Rider at 1:00 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Saint Peter’s at 1:00 p.m.

Monmouth University and Niagara University are both tied for first in the MAAC women’s soccer standings with 12 points. The Hawks and Purple Eagles are both on four game winning streaks. There are 10 MAAC games on the women’s soccer schedule this week with five games on Wednesday, October 7 and five games on Saturday, October 10. The schedule for Wednesday, October 7 includes:

·         Siena versus Canisius at 3:00 p.m.

·         Fairfield versus Iona at 7:00 p.m.

·         Monmouth versus Rider at 7:00 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Saint Peter’s at 7:00 p.m.

·         Marist versus Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday, October 10 the matchups are:

·         Rider versus Siena at 1:00 p.m.

·         Quinnipiac versus Monmouth at 1:00 p.m.

·         Niagara versus Manhattan at 1:00 p.m.

·         Iona versus Canisius at 2:00 p.m.

·         Fairfield versus Marist at 7:00 p.m.

Rider University currently leads the MAAC field hockey standings with a 7-4 record. Conference play for field hockey begins this week on Friday, October 9 with the first two conference games of the season. Quinnipiac versus Bryant at 3:30 p.m. and Sacred Heart versus Siena at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, October 10, the lone MAAC field hockey game will see Fairfield versus defending MAAC champion Monmouth University at 1:00 p.m. There are four non-conference games scheduled for Sunday, October 11. The matchups are:

·         Rider at Villanova at noon

·         Bryant at Columbia 1:00 p.m.

·         Quinnipiac versus Providence at 1:00 p.m.

·         Sacred Heart versus Lehigh at 4:00 p.m.

On the track this week, Canisius College, Niagara University and Rider University are off. Iona College, Manhattan College, Marist College and Saint Peter’s University are all competing in the Metro Championships on Friday, October 9 at Van Cortlandt Park. Fairfield University and Quinnipiac University will be competing in the New England Championships on Saturday, October 10. Monmouth University is at the University of Delaware Invitational on Saturday, October 10. Siena College is at the James Early Invitational on Saturday, October 10 in Westfield, MA.
