Men’s Runner of the Week:

Chartt Miller, Iona

Junior, Perth, Australia / Ocean Reef

Sophomore Chartt Miller led the No. 8 Iona College men's cross country team to a first place team finish in the gold race of the 2015 Greater Louisville Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, the home of the 2015 NCAA Championship. Miller led a quintet of Iona scorers in the Top 20 with a third place finish in the 8,000-meter event. A University of Michigan senior Mason Ferlic was the event winner in 23:51.52 while Miller finished with a time of 23:55.82 and was just over a half second behind second place Edwin Kibichiy from Louisville.

With several ranked teams in the race field, the eighth ranked Gaels should earn a bump in this week's national poll. Iona topped No. 10 Michigan by 16 points. Louisville (RV) and No. 13 Ole Miss tied for third with 82 points. Rounding out the top 10 were Illinois, No. 28 Eastern Kentucky, No. 4 Wisconsin, Penn State (RV), Grand Valley State and Southern Indiana.

Women’s Runner of the Week:

Emily Ritter, Rider

5th Year Senior, Millsboro, Delaware / Sussex Tech

Emily Ritter ran in the Gold Race at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh and despite being tripped in the first half mile, Ritter placed 16th of 312, covering the 6,000 meter course in 20:59. The 16th place finish in the Gold Race is the best ever performance from a Rider women’s cross country runner in program history and this is Ritter’s second MAAC Cross Country Runner of the Week award for this year.
