2015 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship Field Set

EDISON, NJ – The 2015 MAAC Men’s Soccer regular season came to a close on Saturday and now the field is set for the 2015 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship. All 11 teams will qualify for the conference championship which will be held down at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida from November 5-9.
Defending MAAC champion, Monmouth University (7-0-3, 24 points), clinched its second MAAC regular season championship in the last three seasons. The Hawks will be the overall top seed in the championship and have earned a first round bye.
The Hawks will face the winner of the matchup between eighth seed Saint Peter’s University and ninth seed Manhattan College. The Peacocks and Jaspers will play on Thursday, November 5 at 2:00 pm. The winner will face Monmouth on Friday, November 6 at 2:15 p.m. on ESPN 3 in the quarterfinals.
Rider University (6-3-1, 19 points) will be the number two seed and will have a bye in the first round. The Broncs will play the winner of seventh seed Canisius College versus 10th seed Quinnipiac University. The Griffs and Bobcats play on Friday, November 5 at 12:30 p.m. The winner of that opening round contest will face Rider on Friday, November 6 at 11:15 a.m. on ESPN3 in the quarterfinals.
Marist College, Fairfield University, and Iona College (5-3-2, 17 points) all finished in a three-way tie for third place. By virtue of a tie-breaker, Marist will be the third seed, Fairfield finishes as the fourth seed, and Iona will be the fifth seed in the championship.
Marist earns a bye and will take on the winner of the sixth seed Siena College and 11th seed Niagara. The Saints and Purple Eagles square off on Thursday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. The Red Foxes play the winner of that match in the quarterfinals on Friday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m.
Fourth seed Fairfield and fifth seed Iona both earn first round byes and will meet each other on Friday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
The 2015 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship semifinals take place on Sunday, November 8 on ESPN3. The first semifinal contest is at 11:00 a.m. and the second semifinal game will be at 2:00 p.m. The championship final takes place on Monday, November 9 at noon on ESPN3. The eventual 2015 MAAC Men’s Soccer Champion will earn the leagues automatic bid into the 2015 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship.
The NCAA Men’s Soccer selection show airs live on Monday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m.
