MAAC Women's Basketball Starts on Friday

EDISON, NJ – The women’s basketball 2015-16 season starts this weekend for Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) teams. All 11 of the league’s schools are in action over the course of the weekend to kick off its non-conference slate.
Niagara University will be the first MAAC team to take the court as they travel to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech University on Friday, November 13 at noon. The Siena Saints are next on the schedule when they travel to Olean, New York to take St. Bonaventure in the Preseason WNIT on Friday, November 13 at 5:30 p.m. Saint Peter’s University is the first MAAC school to host a home game in the 2015 season when they welcome Duquesne University on Friday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. to Jersey City.
Five other MAAC schools are in action on Friday, November 13 with all games tipping-off at 7:00 p.m. Monmouth is at Lehigh and Canisius is at Youngstown State. Preseason favorite Fairfield University welcomes La Salle to Fairfield, Connecticut for its home opener. Iona heads to Stony Brook to take on the Seawolves and Marist heads to Brookings to take on South Dakota.
There are two games on Saturday, November 14 starting at 2:00 p.m. Manhattan is at Fairleigh Dickinson and Rider welcomes Towson to Lawrenceville, New Jersey for its 2015-16 home opener. The final four games of opening weekend take place on Sunday, November 15. Marist heads to Omaha, Nebraska to face Creighton at 12:05 p.m. Saint Peter’s will host Navy and Siena welcomes Northeastern to Loudonville at 2:00 p.m.
Defending MAAC women’s basketball champions Quinnipiac University close out the weekend when they head to West Point, New York to take on Army for a 4:00 p.m. start. The Bobcats competed in the NCAA Tournament last season when they faced Oklahoma in the opening round of the tournament. Marist College competed in the postseason WNIT and Siena College made it to the championship game of the Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI).
The 2015-16 MAAC season culminates at the 2016 MAAC Basketball Championships, March 3-7, at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. The 2016 MAAC Championship title game will take place on Monday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. and will air live on ESPNU with the winner earning the leagues automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
