Wilson Offensive Player of the Week
Melvin Blair – Canisius
RFr., M, 5-8, Frome, Jamaica/Wayland Baptist University
Blair completed a remarkable week for the Griffs, totaling 12 points on five goals and two assists as the rookie led Canisius to a pair of wins to complete the regular season. On Wednesday, Blair matched the NCAA high for the 2015 season with eight points against second-place Rider – scoring three goals to go along with two assists. His eight points are the most by a Griff since 1999 when Ryan Puntiri scored four goals in a game. Blair followed his career performance with another multi-goal game, scoring two second-half tallies – including a highlight chipped goal from 25 yards out – in a 3-1 victory against Manhattan as Canisius matched its school record with its fifth-straight victory.
Wilson Defensive Player of the Week
Tyler Utheim – Marist
So., GK, 6-6, Monore, NJ/Monroe Township
Making his collegiate debut against nationally ranked Monmouth, Utheim made nine saves for the Red Foxes to preserve a 2-2 tie on October 31. He stopped a shot in each overtime period against the 2015 MAAC regular season champions and finished with an .818 save percentage after the 110 minutes expired. Marist clinched the no. 3 seed in the MAAC Championships with the draw.
Wilson Rookie of the Week
Daniel Huertas – Iona
Fr., F, 5-6, Madrid, Spain/Jose Luis Lopez Aranguren
Daniel Huertas scored his MAAC-leading ninth goal of the season in Iona's 2-2 draw against the Manhattan Jaspers on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The freshman also leads the MAAC with 23 points, 77 shots and shots per game with a 4.28 average.
