Fairfield University Advances to the 2015 MAAC Volleyball Championship Game

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Number one seed Fairfield University advances to the 2015 MAAC Volleyball Championship Final after a thrilling five set win over number four seed Manhattan College. The Stags will play the winner of the second semifinal match between Marist and Niagara at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow on ESPN3.
The Stags won the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-10, respectively and the Jaspers would take the third and fourth sets 25-20 to push this semifinal contest into a fifth and deciding set. The regular season champions were able to put the Jaspers away with a 15-10 fifth set. For the Stags, Megan O’Sullivan hit .333 in the match to go along with 18 kills and five digs. Skyler Day and Megan Theiller both recorded double-doubles in this five set contest. Theiller had 16 kills and 15 digs. Day added 15 kills and 22 digs. Libero Taylor Rudeen led Fairfield with 23 digs. Sydney Buckley led all players in this match with 57 assists.
Manhattan was able to rally after being down two sets to none to push it to a fifth set with the top seed in the tournament. The Jaspers were led by Claire Van Dyk and Milena Janjusevic, who each recorded 18 kills each to go along with 25 and 18 digs, respectively. Jade Gray posted 42 assists and 10 digs in the defeat.
