WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - At the end of its regular season, the Monmouth University women's soccer team entered the top-10 of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Northeast Region poll, claiming the 10th position on Tuesday.
"We are honored to be selected as one of the top teams in the region," stated head coach
Krissy Turner, whose Hawks went 9-1 in the MAAC this season. "Our players have worked hard to achieve this recognition. However, our emphasis is on having a disciplined approach for our upcoming semifinal match on Friday."
The region's top-five includes Connecticut in the top spot, followed by St. John's, South Florida, UCF and Georgetown, while Cincinnati, DePaul, Temple and Tulsa stand in sixth through ninth, respectively.
Monmouth, which earned its third straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship, has captured the No. 1 overall seed in this weekend's tournament and the right to host the postseason on Hesse Field on The Great Lawn, where the Hawks are 8-0-1 this year. Monmouth has also registered its tenth straight season with a double-digit victory total (13-2-2).
