MAAC Graduation Success Rate is 91 Percent

EDISON, NJ – The NCAA recently released its conference “Graduation Success Rate” (GSR) report which tracks conference graduation trends in the sports of basketball, football and baseball, over a four year time period (2005-2008). The report reflects data from all 32 conferences except the Ivy League.
Overall, in all sports, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) graduation rate for the 2008 cohort was 91% (same as last year), placing the conference third amongst the 31 conferences included in the report. The highest overall GSR rate reported was 93% (same as last year). The MAAC consistently is ranked among the highest academic achievers in this report, 2007 the GSR was 91% and 2006 the GSR was 90%.

Men’s basketball in the MAAC improved its graduation success rate to 89% in the 2008 cohort (was 88% in 2007 cohort), and fourth amongst the 31 conferences. The highest GSR reported in men’s basketball for the 2008 cohort is 96%.
Women’s basketball has an average graduation success rate of 92% for the cohort period (2005-2008) and is currently ranked seventh amongst the 31 conferences. The highest GSR reported in women’s basketball for the 2008 cohort is 100%.
Baseball has an average graduation success rate of 83% for the cohort period and is currently ranked sixth amongst the 31 conferences.
