Schulte, Pires, Mulligan and Beers Collect Weekly Awards

Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Ben Schulte, Bryant
So., Tumon, Guam/Miami State High School
Sophomore, Ben Schulte won three events to lead Bryant to a 146-116 victory over MAAC opponent Iona on Saturday. Schulte won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events as well as the 200 IM on the afternoon. He won the 200-yard free with a time of 1:43.93, the 500-yard free with a time of 4:46.94 and the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:58.01. He also anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay to a second place finish behind the Gaels. Schulte registered the second fastest split time, clocking in at 47.72 seconds.
Men’s Diver of the Week
Daniel Pires, Fairfield
Jr., Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford
Pires racked up 18 points in a meet against Holy Cross Saturday as he claimed victories in both diving events. He scored a personal best 289.80 points in the 1M and a 287.10 in the 3M. The Stags were narrowly edged by the Crusaders 155-144.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Kelly Mulligan, Fairfield
Sr., Bellerose, N.Y./Mary Louis Academy
Kelly Mulligan led the way for Fairfield as they topped Holy Cross 189-111 in a dual meet on Saturday. The senior collected three first place finishes, scoring 27 of the Stags’ 189 points. She won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.30, the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.87, and the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.79.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Hailey Beers, Siena
Sr., Brockport N.Y./Brockport
Beers collects her third weekly award after posting strong performances for Siena in a loss to the University of Vermont. Beers finished second in the 1M scoring 237.97 and then followed that performance by placing second in the 3M. Her score of 228.83 in the 3M was less than a point behind the first place finisher. This marks the third straight meet that the senior has led the Saints in diving.
