Monmouth Moves Onto Semifinals After 2-1 Win Over Manhattan

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – David Acuna Camacho scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to push Monmouth into the semifinals of the 2015 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship. The Hawks will now face Iona for a chance to play in the championship game. Game time is slated for 11 a.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.
The first goal of the game came eight minutes into game when Monmouth’s Miguel Alves scored his fifth goal of the season when he curled one into the back of the net from 25 yards out. Manhattan tied the game up in the second half when Ajani Phillips scored on an assist from Abraham Bartoah.
Both goalkeepers, Monmouth’s Eric Klenofksy and Manhattan’s R.J. Noll recorded six saves a piece. Despite outshooting the Hawks, 13-11, the Jaspers were unable to tie the game in the final seconds of regulation and possibly send the game into overtime.
