Rider University Men's Soccer Head Coach Charlie Inverso Named NSCAA Northeast Region Coach of the Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—Rider University head coach Charlie Inverso was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Northeast Region Coach of the Year.
Inverso guided the 2015 Rider Broncs to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship and the NCAA Tournament, finishing with 14 victories, the most since 1997.
In 2014, Rider won nine games, the best season for the Broncs in 16 years. That year the Broncs were picked to finish eighth in the 11-team MAAC and finished third. Rider led the entire nation with 40 goals scored during the 2014 regular season.
This year Rider was picked to finish third in the MAAC, after a third place finish last year, and finished in second place despite an 0-2 start in conference play.
In the MAAC Championship Tournament Rider defeated the 10th seed, the sixth seed and the nationally ranked top seed to win the conference title, before losing to the defending National Champion, Virginia, 2-0 in the NCAA Tournament.
As Northeast Region Coach of the Year Inverso’s name will now be on the National Coach of the Year ballot.
Inverso was a four-time NJCAA National Coach of the Year at Mercer County Community College, where he compiled a 434-46-14 record while winning five National Titles.
