Metro Conference

Members of the Siena College Men’s Basketball team will be conducting a meet and greet assembly at the Hackett Middle School in Albany, NY.  At the assembly with the Hackett School scholars the Siena team members will talk about the value of education and athletics and how to balance the demands of their daily schedules.

After the assembly Siena College Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Jimmy Patsos and Hackett Middle School Principal, Michael Paolino will hold a brief press conference (and photo op) announcing the “Adopt-A-School” partnership with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and Siena College Athletics. The Hackett School Scholars will also be invited to attend the St. Bonaventure versus Siena, men’s basketball game at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY, the following evening as guests of the Times Union Center.

The Adopt-A-School program is a MAAC Gives Back Community relations initiative intended to motivate area students through interaction with MAAC student-athletes. Members of MAAC athletic teams interact with designated schools throughout the year.

In addition to providing guidance and leadership to area youths, the student athletes learn first-hand the value of volunteering in the community. The students can find that learning is fun as teachers incorporate athletics into class lesson plans.  During the course of the coming school year the MAAC will work with Hackett School Principal Michael Paolino on a number of initiatives to encourage students to excel in academics and athletics utilizing the resources of the MAAC.
