EDISON, NJ – The 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Basketball closes out 2015 with the conclusion of non-conference games and the resumption of MAAC play.
In men’s basketball news, Siena recorded its eighth win in its last 10 games behind MAAC Player of the Week, Marquis Wright. Wright had 20 points and 10 assists for the Saints to give them the win over St. Bonaventure. Monmouth continued its hot play after knocking off Cornell 78-69. The Hawks rank 13th in the NCAA in RPI Monmouth also received 11 votes in the AP Top 25 poll, the most its received in program history. Marist defeated Brown 84-83 in double overtime behind 37 points from Khallid Hart. Fairfield recorded two wins against Loyola and Bucknell. Saint Peter’s defeated St. Francis Brooklyn 56-45 for its fourth win of the season. This week’s non-conference matchups include:
· Monmouth at Army on Monday, December 28 at 4:00 p.m. on the Patriot League Network
· Iona versus Drexel on Monday, December 28 at 7:00 p.m.
· Manhattan at Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m.
· Rider versus Hartford on Wednesday, December 30 at 7:00 p.m.
The four MAAC contests this week all take place on Saturday, January 2
· Quinnipiac versus Iona at 2:00 p.m.
· Marist versus Canisius at 7:00 p.m.
· Manhattan versus Fairfield at 7:00 p.m.
· Siena versus Niagara at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3

In women’s basketball news, Canisius earned its MAAC leading seventh win of the season when they knocked off Northeastern 68-57. Tiahana Mills led the Griffs with 15 points and seven assists to earn MAAC Player of the Week honors. The Griffs headed into the Christmas break with its highest winning percentage (.700) since the 1981-82 season. This week the notable non-conference matchups include:
· Rider versus Central Michigan on Monday, December 28 in the Saint Joseph’s Hawk Classic in Philadelphia, PA at 4:00 p.m.
· Fairfield versus Harvard on Monday, December 28 at 5:00 p.m.
· Quinnipiac at Florida Gulf Coast on Monday, December 28 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
· Canisius versus St. Bonaventure on Tuesday, December 29 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3
The MAAC schedule for this week is:
