Gilbert Kirui
Cross Country, Sophomore, Keringet, Kenya/Chabara
The Iona College men's cross country team finished fifth overall at the 2015 NCAA Division Championship held at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park; they were led by sophomore Gilbert Kirui who placed 20th overall.
Kirui finished the 10,000-meter event with a time of 30:11.3. By virtue of his finish, he becomes Iona's 16th cross country All-American as the program has earned the honor 22 times since 1988.
It was the Gaels 13th Top 10 finish at the national championship in the last 14 years and their highest finish since a second place performance in 2008.
Kelly Mulligan
Women's Swimming and Diving, Senior, Bellerose, N.Y./Mary Louis Academy
A two-time MAAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week this season, Kelly Mulligan has been a consistent presence on the scoresheet for the Stags. Notable performances this year for the senior from Bellerose, N.Y. include three individual wins in Fairfield’s victory at Holy Cross on Nov. 1 and a pair of top-15 showings at the Terrier Invitational. She was also part of the foursome that posted school record time of 1:38.38 in the 200-yard freestyle relay this season. For her career, Mulligan appears in seven different events on the Stags’ all-time top-10 lists. The double major in Management and Marketing at Fairfield’s Charles F. Dolan School of Business is a MAAC All-Academic and Academic Honor Roll student and an honoree on the University’s Dean List.
