Men’s Track Performer of the Week

Gilbert Kirui, Iona

R-Fr., Keringet, Kenya/ Chabara

Kirui finished first in the 5,000-meter event at the 2015-16 Boston University Season Opener at the Track & Tennis Center.  The red shirt freshman beat out 27 other competitors and finished with a time of 13:50.48, which was also a 10-second personal best time. 

Men’s Field Performer of the Week

Hayden Clarke, Manhattan

Jr., Townsville, Australia/ Ignatius Park College

Hayden Clarke won the long jump at the Metro Holiday Season Opener at the new Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in New York.  The Manhattan junior won the event with a distance of 7.37 meters, qualifying him for IC4As. With his efforts, Clarke finished with the fourth-best mark in the NCAA during the first weekend of Indoor Track & Field competition. 

Women’s Track Performer of the Week

Jasmine Davis

Fr., Ronkonkoma, NY/ Hauppauge

 Davis made her presence known in her first collegiate Indoor Track & Field meet, finishing first in the 400 meters race.  The Manhattan freshman beat out fifty other competitors with a time of 57.53, setting the new facility record at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.  Davis was also a part of the Jaspers’ 4x400 meter relay team that finished sixth out of twenty-seven other teams. 

Women’s Field Performer of the Week

Sarena Dixon-Martin

Fr., Red Bank, NJ/ Red Bank Regional

 Dixon-Martin finished first in the shot put at the Metro Holiday Season Opener over the weekend.  The freshman had a throw of 13.51, which was also an ECAC qualifying mark.  Dixon-Martin beat out thirty-six other competitors in the shot put to win the event.
