Avery, Perrier, Lombardo, and Hoeller Capture Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. – Kate Avery from Iona College is the MAAC Women's Track Performer of the Week. The MAAC Men's Track Performer of the Week is Greg Perrier from Manhattan College. Stephanie Lombardo from Rider University is the MAAC Women’s Field Performer of the Week, while Stefan Hoeller from Manhattan College earned the award on the men’s side.
Junior Kate Avery from Iona College is the MAAC Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week. Avery won the mile at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center. She defeated the 16-person field with a blistering time of 4:42.85, clearing the pack by 13 seconds. Avery’s time qualified her for the ECACs.
The MAAC Men's Indoor Track Performer of the Week is Senior Greg Perrier from Manhattan College. At the Metropolitan Indoor Championships, Perrier finished in first place in the 800-meter run. His time of 1:53.16 cleared the 23-man field by .61 seconds. Perrier also anchored the Jaspers’ 4x800 meter relay team to a third place finish with a time of 7:55.49.
Freshman Stephanie Lombardo from Rider University is the MAAC Women’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week. At the TCNJ Dual Meet, Lombardo took home first in the shot put with a toss of 13.47 meters, clearing the field by 2.07 meters. She also placed third in the weight throw with a throw of 14.07 meters.
The MAAC Men's Indoor Field Performer of the Week is Sophomore Stefan Hoeller from Manhattan College. At the Metropolitan Indoor Championships, Hoeller took home first place in the heptathlon with a score of 4829 points. He came in first place in the shot put with a toss of 11.70 meters. In the other 6 events, Hoeller came in third in the 55-meter dash, sixth in the long jump, third in the high jump, fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, second in the pole vault, and third in the 1000-meter run.
The 2015 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on February 21st at the New Balance Armory Track & Field.
