Marist's Giudici, Siena's Garrity Garner Weekly Tennis Honors

EDISON, N.J. – Senior Matteo Giudici of Marist has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while sophomore Ali Garrity of Siena is the Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Giudici put forth an impressive week for the Red Foxes, capturing wins in both singles and doubles play against BIG EAST foe, Georgetown. The senior teamed up with Justin Chanthalangsy at the No. 2 slot to down their Hoya opponents, 7-5. Giudici led off singles action for Marist and notched a straight-set win (6-4, 6-2) at No. 6.
Garrity returned to the Saints rotation after missing the opening weekend of the spring and picked up where she left off in the fall. She posted a thrilling three-set (2-6, 6-3 and 6-2) win over Binghamton’s Alexis Tashiro at top singles for the Saints’ only point. Garrity nearly scored a victory at No. 1 doubles with classmate Mitsuki Fukamachi before falling in a tiebreaker (7-6 (1)). Garrity is 6-2 in singles play this season against top competition.
The 2015 MAAC Tennis Championships will be held on April 25 and 26 at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.
