Ryan Stekl, Canisius

Canisius freshman Ryan Stekl has started his college baseball career off in style, as the freshman hit .615 (8-for-13) with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBI in his first three collegiate games last week in Conway, S.C. In the Golden Griffins’ 8-6 win over Old Dominion Feb. 15, the Lancaster, N.Y. native went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. He has recorded multiple hits in each of his first three college games, and he currently has a .643 on-base percentage and a .769 slugging percentage. Defensively, he recorded 33 putouts and three defensive assists while playing first base.
Pitcher of the Week
Deven Stewart, Canisius
Sr. P, 6-2, Maple Ridge, British Columbia/Samuel Robertson
Canisius senior pitcher Devon Stewart earned his first victory of the season on the hill for the Griffs as Canisius defeated Old Dominion out of Conference USA 8-6 Feb. 13. Stewart allowed just one run, an unearned run, on five hits while striking out three and walking three in 6.2 innings of work. The win, the 18th of his career came after he threw 88 total pitches.
Rookie of the Week
Matt Littrell, Monmouth
Fr., P, 6-3, Bayonne, N.J./Catholic Central
In his collegiate debut, Littrell came in against Dallas Baptist and tossed 1.1 scoreless innings, striking out three in keeping DBU off the board.
