Monmouth's Vaghela & Niagara's Peisakhova with Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. – Monmouth University sophomore Vidit Vaghela is the MAAC Men’s Tennis Player of Year. The MAAC Women’s Player of the Week is Niagara University’s Stella Peisakhova.
Vidit Vaghela, of Monmouth University, earned a victory during the ECAC Championships last weekend. The first-year Hawk posted a come-from-behind victory against George Washington’s Cahit Kapukiran, playing at No. 4. Vaghela lost the opening set but rallied back to down his counterpart 6-2, 6-3 in the final two sets to even the score with the Colonials, who entered the weekend ranked 61st in the country. The India native, along with sophomore Christian Vieira, held a 5-2 advantage in doubles action when the Blue and White secured the point and play froze.
Stella Peisakhova collected her second win of the season in straight sets, in No. 4 singles against Duquesne on Friday in Niagara’s lone match of the week. Peisakhova defeated Chandler Consonery, 6-3, 6-1, to improve to 2-2 on the season in singles.
The 2015 MAAC Tennis Championships will be held on April 25 and 26 at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.
