2015 MAAC Men's and Women's Rowing Preseason Preview

EDISON, N.J. – Defending conference champion Jacksonville University has been named the preseason favorite to repeat as Women’s Rowing champions according to a vote of the league's 10 head coaches. Jacksonville earned a total of 99 votes with nine of ten coaches’ first place votes.
In 2014, Jacksonville captured the MAAC Women’s Rowing trophy for the first time after scoring 45 points to top Marist College by 8 points. The Dolphins won the Women I Eights Grand Final with a time of 6:43.30, and the Women II Eights Grand Final with a time of 7:09.80.
Coming in second in the women’s poll is Marist College with a total of 88 votes from the coaches. Fairfield University came in third place with 79 votes. Canisius College received 68 votes to come in fourth. Coming in fifth is Robert Morris University with 59 votes. Drake University came in sixth place and received 51 votes. Coming in seventh was Stetson University with 43 votes. Iona College received 29 votes from the coaches and came in eighth. Coming in ninth place was Sacred Heart University totaling 20 votes, while Manhattan College totaled 8 votes.
Defending conference champion Marist College has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2015 MAAC Men’s Rowing Championship according to a vote of the league's 6 head coaches. Marist received a total of 32 votes with four out of the six coaches' first place votes. Last year, the Red Foxes claimed their thirteenth consecutive conference championship to go along with sixteen total conference championships.
At the 2014 championship, Marist topped Jacksonville University by 4 points. Marist took home first place in the Men’s Varsity 8 and the Men’s Second Varsity 8 with times of 5:59.60 and 6:09.23 respectively. The Red Foxes also took home first in the Men Open 4 with a time of 6:49.30.
Coming in second for the men’s poll is Jacksonville University with 32 votes. Fairfield University came in third place and received 21 votes. Iona College received 19 votes and came in fourth place. Coming in fifth place is Canisius College with 13 votes, followed by Manhattan College with 7 votes.
The 2015 MAAC Men's and Women's Rowing Championship will take place on Sunday, May 17 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
