Monmouth Wins 2015 MAAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship

New York, N.Y. - The Monmouth University Women's Track and Field team captured its second straight title at the 2015 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championship at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in New York City.
The Hawks won the meet with a score of 166.50 points. Rider University finished second with 105.50 points, followed closely by Quinnipiac who was third with 104 points. Manhattan placed in fourth with 99.50 points. Iona finished fifth with 79 and Saint Peter’s placed sixth with 47.50 points. They were followed by Marist with 16 points and Canisius with five points.
Marisa Robbins of Manhattan College was named the Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. She broke the MAAC pole vault record with 3.81 meters.
Shameal Samuels of Quinnipiac University earned Most Outstanding Performer for Track Events. She set a new MAAC record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.30 and then followed that performance up with winning the 60 meter dash, and the 400 meter dash.
Joe Compagni of Monmouth University was named the 2015 Women’s Coach of the Year.
New MAAC records include Rosie Clarke of Iona College in the 800 meter run (2:08.40), Tara Jameson of Iona College in the 3000 meter run (9:38.73), and Iona College in the Women Distance Medley (11:50.44).
