Marist's Chanthalangsy & Siena's Dunbar with Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. – Marist College freshman Justin Chanthalangsy is the MAAC Men’s Tennis Player of Year. The MAAC Women’s Player of the Week is Siena College freshman Julia Dunbar.
Justin Chanthalangsy from Marist College is the MAAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. The freshman helped the Red foxes split a pair of matches this past weekend by winning a total of four match wins for the team, two in doubles and two in singles ending a perfect 4-0 on the weekend. Teaming up with senior captain Matteo Giudici, Chanthalangsy earned the only doubles point for the Red Foxes in their match up on Friday with Army and earned a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory in singles. On Saturday Chanthalangsy and Giudici teamed up again to earn the deciding doubles point for the Red Foxes and then won a, 6-2, 6-3, singles match to help Marist earn a 6-1 victory over St. Bonaventure.
Siena College’s Julia Dunbar is the MAAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Dunbar played a huge role in Siena’s 7-0 sweep of Manhattan. She started off by teaming with classmate Rin Sakai for a 6-2 win over Caitlin Bricketto and Shivani Patel at No. 2 doubles to help the Saints clinch the doubles point. She then moved up in Siena’s singles rotation due to a teammates illness and delivered a stirring 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kaitlyn Rooney at No. 5 singles. Dunbar is off to a 9-1 start in her first 10 collegiate matches and she has helped the Saints to a 6-3 record and a 2-0 MAAC mark.
The 2015 MAAC Tennis Championships will be held on April 25 and 26 at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.
