Fairfield

On Jan. 15th, Head Coach Sydney Johnson served as the keynote speaker at the Martin Luther King Classic Basketball Tournament luncheon, talking to more than 200 high school coaches, student-athletes, administrators, and city officials at Webster Bank Arena.  He spoke about the legacy that Dr. Martin Luther King left behind.  “I don’t think there is a better name than Dr. King to associate with this tournament that brings the community together because he was someone who united people”, he said.

Marist

Marist student-athletes from the men’s and women’s track teams and softball team traveled to West Point Cemetery on Sunday, Jan. 25, to help pick-up the holiday wreaths that were laid on graves in early December as part of the Wreaths across America organization. In total there were 3,240 wreaths that the teams helped to gather from the graves and throw away.

Quinnipiac

On Jan. 15 the women’s lacrosse team helped coach a clinic for high school lacrosse players.

Saint Peter’s

On January 23, 2015, the Saint Peter’s University’s Men’s and Women’s Swimming team took part in a community service event where we helped out at our University’s Campus Kitchen and Pantry at St. Aedan’s Church by organizing and sorting through all of the many donations that had been brought in over the winter break. A majority of the sorting took place outside in the unfortunately cold weather, but everyone was dressed warmly and constantly moving so we were comfortable enough.
