Several MAAC Spring Sports Set to Start on Feb. 6

EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference spring schedule gets underway on Friday Feb. 6 for the sports of men’s and women’s lacrosse, and softball.

The softball schedule opens up today (Feb. 6) with Niagara University and Canisius College participating in the Cleveland State Dome Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio. The Purple Eagles kick off the season facing tournament host, Cleveland State, at 3:30 p.m., and then face Toledo at 6 p.m. to conclude the day.

On Saturday Feb. 7, Canisius begins its slate against host Cleveland State at 8 a.m., followed by a meeting with Bucknell at 1 p.m. Niagara gets back on the mound on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against Bowling Green, and ends the night squaring off against Robert Morris at 6 p.m.

Canisius finishes up the tournament on Sunday, Feb. 8 with matchups against Toledo at 8 a.m., and bowling green at 10:30 a.m.

The 2015 men’s lacrosse season begins on Saturday Feb. 7 with three of the league’s teams in action.

At 1 p.m., Detroit hosts Ohio State, and Manhattan visits Stony Brook. Defending MAAC Champions, Siena College, kicks off its schedule at No. 4 Syracuse in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN3 and TWC SportsChannel at 4 p.m.

In women’s lacrosse action, Canisius College is the lone program to open the season on Saturday, Feb. 7, taking on No. 3 Syracuse in Syracuse, New York, at 7:30 p.m.
