Marist Takes Home Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. – Marist College senior Joseph Dube is the MAAC Men’s Tennis Player of Year. The MAAC Women’s Player of the Week is another Red Fox, senior Karly Pang.

The MAAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week is Joseph Dube from Marist College. Dube had a tremendous birthday weekend as he went 5-0 on the weekend in three separate matches. In Marist’s first matchup against FDU at the Yale Men’s Tennis Invitational, the Red Foxes prevailed 9-3 while Dube earned a 6-3 doubles win while teamed up with freshman Jan Dernic and then a straight set singles win, 6-1/6-1. The next day against both Yale and Stony Brook, Dube picked up three more wins. After dropping the first set against Yale, Dube won the second and third sets for his first singles match win of the day. Dube then teamed up with Dernic again to earn a 6-2 doubles victory. For his final singles match of the day Dube earned a victory in straight sets over Stony Brook’s Tyler Hoffman.

Karly Pang from Marist College is the MAAC Women’s Player of the Week. Pang earned two wins, one in doubles and one in singles as the Marist fell to Navy, 5-2. Pang started the day for the Red Foxes, teaming up with freshman Claire Schmitz as they earned a 8-6 win in doubles. Pang then went on to singles play and defeated Navy’s Allie Parlansky in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. The Red Foxes return to action next weekend as they take on Binghamton on Friday, March 13 and then Cornell on Saturday, March 14.

The 2015 MAAC Tennis Championships will be held on April 25 and 26 at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.
