Manhattan to Face Hampton in the First Round of the NCAA Championship

EDISON, N.J.  – The 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champions, Manhattan College, will face Hampton University in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Division I Championship in Dayton, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 17 at 6:40 p.m. EST.

The back-to-back MAAC Champions, Manhattan finished the season with a final record of 19-13. The Jaspers defeated Iona 79-69 to earn the MAAC’s automatic qualifier, advancing them to NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year. The selection marks the eighth NCAA appearance for the Jaspers.

The Jaspers have won four straight, and seven of the last eight games. Manhattan is 5-2 in neutral contest in the 2014-15 season.

Hampton, which became the MEAC Champions by defeating Delaware State, 82-61, enters the tournament with an overall record of 16-17. The Pirates hold a 5-1 record on neutral floors this season.  

Senior Emmy Andujar, who was a member of the All-MAAC First Team and All-Championship Team, leads Manhattan. The Jaspers are also led by Championship MVP, Ashton Pankey and All-Championship Team member, Shane Richards. 

The winner will advance to the second round to take on overall No. 1 seed, the University of Kentucky on Thursday, March 19, in Louisville, Kentucky.
