Siena Defeats Stony Brook in Women's Basketball Invitational

EDISON, N.J. – No. 3 Siena College will move on to face No. 2 Xavier on Sunday at 2pm in the second round of the Women’s Basketball invitational (WBI) after defeating Stony Brook 53-46 at home on the campus of Siena College Thursday evening.
Battling neck and neck to gain the advantage in the first half the Saints took the lead moving toward halftime after breaking six ties to begin the game. With four minutes left in the first half Siena went on a run to give themselves a seven point lead heading into the locker room at halftime. After the half the Saints would never trail the Seawolves leading by as many as 10 points before coming away with the seven point win.
Senior guard Tehresa Coles and freshman Kollyns Scarbrough led the Saints in scoring with 13 points apiece in the victory. Symone Kelly added 12 points and five rebounds for Siena and went 5-11 from the field. MAAC Rookie of the Year Margot Hetzke lead Siena in rebounds as the freshman collected nine off the glass.
Siena now sits 20-12 on the season and will continue their run in the WBI on Sunday versus Xavier at 2pm.
