Elena Bowman, Manhattan, Softball, Catcher, Jr., San Mateo, Calif.

Bowman has hit eight home runs since March 15 to break Manhattan’s all-time career record.  She tied Kiera Fox’s mark with her 30th career long ball in the second game of a doubleheader sweep over Mount St. Mary’s on Monday.  Bowman broke the record with a two-run blast in the sixth inning at Saint Mary’s on Thursday.  She then belted a go-ahead three-run shot in her next at-bat.

The MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, Bowman took home MAAC Player of the Week honors on March 10 and March 17, and she was named Corvias ECAC Metro/Upstate Player of the Week on March 17.  As of Monday, she led the nation with 0.53 home runs per game and was second nationally with a 1.171 slugging percentage.  Bowman also ranks among the national leaders in on-base percentage (fourth, .649), RBIs per game (fifth, 1.53) and batting average (10th, .512).
