Player of the Week

Jesse Puscheck, Canisius

Sr., 3B, 6-2, North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda

Senior Jesse Puscheck was one of four Griffs to see action in all four games last week, as he led the group with a .500 batting average, as the Griffs went 2-2 last week. Puscheck went 7-of-14, as he hit doubles in five of those seven knocks.  The senior corner-infielder also finished with three RBI. Puscheck had at least one hit in every game last week, including a three-hit effort against Rutgers and two hits against Iona in the first game of a double-header on Sunday. The North Tonawanda, N.Y., native finished the four-game stretch with a .611 on base percentage and a .857 slugging percentage to go along with four walks and one stolen base.

Pitcher of the Week

Mike Wallace, Fairfield

Jr., RHP, 6-5, Madison, N.J./Madison

Mike Wallace threw perhaps the best game that Fairfield has seen in recent memory. The junior stopped the team's two game losing streak and tossed a complete game two hit shutout while striking out seven and walking two. Wallace set team season-highs in almost every pitching category including innings, strikeouts, and hits allowed. Wallace allowed just two singles, one off of his glove, on a windy day with temperatures hitting 39 degrees.  At one point in the game Wallace retired 10-straight batters and would only face three batters over the minimum. Wallace threw 120 pitches on his career day, with only one runner reaching third base.

Rookie of the Week

J.P. Stevenson, Canisius

Fr., LHP, 6-3, New Glasgow, P.E.I./Vauxhall

Canisius freshman starter, J.P. Stevenson gave the Griffs a clean sweep on Sunday as he cruised through six shutout innings in a 7-0 win against Iona. Stevenson allowed just four hits and fanned six to improve to 3-0.  The New Glasgow, native allowed just five base runners, as he walked just one in the contest. With his victory yesterday he is now tied with Rider’s David Hafer in the MAAC lead in wins, with three.
