Jacksonville Women's Rowing Sweeps Weekly Awards

EDISON, N.J. – The Women’s Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 8, and Varsity 4 from Jacksonville University claim all three rowing weekly awards.
The Women’s Varsity 8 from Jacksonville University takes home the award this week. The Dolphins’ varsity eight won with a time of 5:50.77, nearly 20 seconds ahead of second place Drake and 30 seconds before Stetson. Led by Coxswain Lauren Whetzel and rowers Danielle Keeler, Stefanie Keeler, Juliana Welch, Jessica Mathews, Kelly Cleveland, Bridge Keough, Victoria Hernandez, Stacey Price, the Dolphins Varsity 8 are off to a strong start to the young season.
The Women’s Second Varsity 8 from Jacksonville University takes home the weekly award. In the final race of the day, the Second Varsity Eight took home first place with a time of 5:56.35, besting the Dolphin’s Varsity Eight, Drake, and Stetson in the process. Led by Coxswain Claire McLenna and rowers Michaela Hill, Victoria Tkacz, Veronika Stasaityte, Ashley Hirt, Jennifer Pavlik, Joan Spinelli, Tori West, and Rylie Ayles, the Dolphins 2nd Varsity took down the competition.
The Women’s Varsity 4 from Jacksonville University takes home the weekly award. To a tune of 6:50.17, the Varsity Four took down Drake. Led by Coxswain Monica Hakun and rowers Jodi Coia, Alex Pulliam, April Beck, and Sydney Warpness, the Varsity 4 is a force to be reckoned with.
The 2015 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Rowing Championships will be held on Sunday, May 17 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
