EDISON, N.J. – Two MAAC men’s lacrosse players were named candidates for the 2015 senior CLASS award. Tim Edwards of Canisius College and Richie Hurley of Siena College have been chosen as candidates for the prestigious award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – classroom, character, community and competition. The Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in the community.

A three-time all-conference selection and the 2012 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Tim Edwards ranks 12th in school history with 126 career points and eighth with 73 career assists and was selected in the Major League Lacrosse Draft in January by the Chesapeake Bayhawks with the 41st pick. In four games this season, Edwards has totaled 11 points, five goals and six assists. A two-time MAAC All-Academic selection, he maintains a 3.40 grade point and is also a two-time team captain, while volunteering throughout the community.

Richie Hurley currently ranks 10th in program history with 148 career points and fifth in assists with 74. Last season he was named an Honorable Mention USILA All-American, was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List and was tabbed the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year after breaking the conference record with 82 points and setting a new Siena record with 48 assists. Through five games this season, Hurley has totaled 15 points on nine goals and six assists. Hurley increased his GPA to a mark of 3.22 and was named a Siena College Presidential Scholar. A two-time team captain, Hurley has spent many hours giving back to the community in the Capital Region.
