Rivera and Cosgrove Earn ECAC Player of the Week Honors

EDISON, N.J. – Iona College junior pitcher Mariano Rivera was named Division I Baseball Metro/Upstate “Pitcher of the Week” by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC), while Manhattan College freshman pitcher Tom Cosgrove was named Metro/Upstate “Co-Rookie of the Week”.
Rivera was masterful against the Marist Red Foxes last week, tossing a one-hit shutout to lift the Gaels to a 2-0 win. The junior right-hander allowed just one base runner over seven innings, while registering 11 strikeouts. The Gaels won two-of-three against Marist in the MAAC weekend series and won three of their four contests on the week.
Cosgrove yielded just a single hit in six innings of action against Hofstra last week. Although earning the no-decision, Cosgrove registered six strikeouts and allowed just a single unearned run in the outing. The rookie from Staten Island retired his final nine batters, five of which went down on strikes.
