Player of the Week
Jake Lumley, Canisius

So., 2B, 6-0, Windsor, Ontario/Holy Names

Jake Lumley led the team in batting average and RBI this week, starting four games and appearing in all five for the Blue and Gold. He slugged his way to a .500 batting average, getting 10 hits in 20 at bats, and notched 11 RBI during the stretch. The sophomore infielder started with three RBI against Binghamton on Wednesday and followed it up with a huge series against Saint Peter’s where he recorded nine hits and eight RBI to help the Griffs win its third MAAC series of the year. Lumley was key in the Griffs’ 23-0 rout of the Peacocks Sunday as he accounted for four hits, one double, and a grand slam in the eighth with seven RBI. Lumley’s seven RBI on Sunday set a new career-high for the second-year man.

Pitcher of the Week

J.P. Stevenson, Canisius

Fr., LHP, 6-3, New Glasgow/Vauxhall

 J.P. Stevenson helped cap off a successful weekend series for Canisius as he helped secure the 23-0 rout of Saint Peters’ on Sunday. Stevenson pitched eight strong innings, yielding just four hits and fanning six with the win. Through the eight frames Stevenson allowed just five baserunners for the day and improved to 4-2 on the season. 

Rookie of the Week

Seth Hoagland, Iona

Fr., 3B/RF, 6-1, Waterford, Conn./Waterford

Freshman 3B/RF Seth Hoagland batted .500 with seven hits in 14 at bats, driving in seven runs and scoring four others during Iona's 3-1 week. He reached base safely in nine of 16 plate appearances (.563) and recorded three stolen bases. Hoagland was clutch all weekend as four of his seven hits came with two outs leading to an eventual run scored or a run batted in. In non-conference action he hit a two-out two run single to give the Gaels a six-run cushion in the sixth inning. In game one vs. Monmouth his two, two-out hits were followed by runs scored in the Gaels 12-3 win over the Hawks. In game two, his lone hit (two walks, and a sacrifice in other three plate appearances) drove in two runs with two outs. In the finale, Hoagland opened scoring for the Gaels with a one-out hit and then got Iona within a run in its come from behind effort in the eighth inning with a well-placed RBI groundout. Defensively, the versatile Hoagland was perfect on 11 chances in four games at third base and in the outfield. Hoagland has hit safely in all five games since returning from a 10-game absence due to injury last weekend at Fairfield.
